Suio-ryu is a style of classical Japanese swordsmanship, staff fighting, and use of the glaive, along with other weapons. It was founded at the end of the Sengoku period (c.1467-c.1603). This art has been passed down via a single, unbroken lineage of headmasters for fifteen generations into the present day. Join us as we learn the art of the four foot staff, known in Japanese as the Jo. This classical weapon is unique in that it is still in use today by the Japanese police, and the guards of the Imperial Palace.
